Surge protection
Protect the equipment you can't replace overnight
Servers, tills, access control and refrigeration are expensive to lose to a spike when the power returns after load-shedding or a storm. We review the protection at your DB boards, recommend devices for the equipment that matters most and install them with our own electricians.

Scope
What a surge protection review includes
-
Existing protection check
We look at what is already fitted at each board and whether it is still doing its job.
-
Equipment priorities
You tell us what can't go down, and we work out which boards and circuits feed it.
-
Device recommendations
Board-mounted protection matched to the installation, plus advice on plug-in protection for sensitive equipment.
-
Installation and records
Devices installed, with their details and the manufacturer's information handed over for your maintenance file.
On site
Fitting protection with little downtime
A surge device goes into the board, so each board needs a short shutdown. We book it with you, warn the people it affects and restore power in the order your IT and security teams need. No device makes equipment immune to every surge, but protection at the board and at the plug together reduces the risk.
- One short, booked shutdown per board
- IT and security contacts warned beforehand
- Landlord and tenant supplies identified
- Device details left for your facilities file
- Circuits checked with power restored
Paperwork
Records your facilities file needs
- Written recommendationWhich boards need protection and why, with a quote that holds for 7 days.
- Device informationMake, type and manufacturer guidance for each device we fit.
- DepositInstallations need a 75% deposit before devices are ordered.
- Payment optionsEFT, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay or Google Pay, or a 30-day account for companies.
Facilities FAQs
Surge protection questions from facilities and IT teams
Will surge protection stop all damage?
No device can promise that. Board protection deals with surges coming in on the supply, and plug-in units add a second layer for sensitive equipment. Used together, they reduce the risk.
Do we need it on every board?
Not always. We start with the boards feeding your most important equipment and recommend the rest in order of priority.
Does it replace a UPS or inverter?
No. A UPS or inverter keeps equipment running through an interruption; surge protection limits voltage spikes. Many sites use both, and we install inverter systems too.
Should protection be checked after a storm?
Yes. Many board-mounted devices show a status indicator once they have absorbed a surge and need replacing. If you are not sure what yours shows, we check them for you.
Can it be added during other electrical work?
Yes, and it saves a separate shutdown, because the board is already open.
