Electric stoves, ovens & hobs
Get your kitchen cooking again.
If your electric stove, hob or oven isn’t heating, keeps tripping or needs to be connected, tell Amptex the appliance and what it’s doing. We repair, connect and install electric cooking appliances in homes. We do not work on gas.
Recognise the right enquiry
When to call us
- An electric oven, hob or stove that won’t heat or only partly works.
- The appliance trips the power when it’s switched on.
- A new electric stove, oven or hob that needs to be connected.
Understand the work
From the symptoms to a practical plan
A cooking-appliance fault can sit in the appliance itself, its controls or the electrical supply feeding it. Share the make, model and what isn’t working, and we’ll tell you whether it needs an assessment, a repair or a new connection. We work on electric stoves, ovens and hobs only: Amptex does not work on gas appliances or gas connections.
Repair, replacement and the wider job
Whether to repair depends on the fault, parts availability and the appliance’s condition. A replacement also needs the right supply and isolator for the new unit. Ask whether sourcing parts, removing the old appliance and any cabinet or countertop changes are part of the quote.
For your home
Explaining a cooking-appliance problem
A hob with one dead plate, an oven with no heat and an appliance that trips the power each need a different check. Tell us which functions still work. For a new appliance, include its specification and the space it’s going into.
-
Identify the appliance
Say whether it’s a freestanding stove, a built-in oven or a hob. We work on electric appliances only, not gas.
-
Describe the fault
Explain which functions still work, when the problem started and any earlier repairs.
-
Replacement requirements
Share the dimensions and product details, then ask about the connection, removing the old appliance and any cabinetry changes.
What affects this quotation?
Your quotation will depend on:
- The appliance type, model and the fault found.
- Parts availability compared with replacing the appliance.
- Connection, removal of the old unit and any cabinetry changes.
Tell us who may authorise the work, for example a landlord, agent or body corporate.
There’s no call-out fee: you pay first-hour labour. See how our pricing and quotations work.

Before you book
Questions about stove & oven repairs
Do you work on gas stoves, ovens or hobs?
No. Amptex works on electric stoves, ovens and hobs only. We don’t work on gas appliances or gas connections; for those, use a registered gas installer.
Can you tell me if it’s worth repairing before I book?
Send the appliance details and a short description first. We’ll tell you whether an assessment makes sense and what the visit involves.
What appliance details should I send?
The appliance type, make and model if known, what isn’t working and a photo if useful.
Where and when can I arrange this service?
Call with your suburb and how urgent it is. We serve Johannesburg and Gauteng; Pretoria, Soweto and outer Gauteng are by arrangement.
