Selling your home, finishing an alteration or missing a certificate? Amptex inspects and tests your electrical installation, shows you exactly what needs attention, and issues the Certificate of Compliance once the installation complies.
Recognise the right enquiry
When you need a COC
- You are selling your home and the transfer needs a valid electrical COC.
- The installation has been altered or extended since the last certificate.
- The existing certificate is missing, or you are unsure what it covers.
Understand the work
How the inspection works
Our electrician inspects and tests the installation: the distribution board, wiring, earthing and the fixed points the certificate covers. We take complete photos of every fault we find and load them onto our live electronic job card system, so you can see the findings for yourself.
The inspection does not include repairs. If faults are found, we quote the repairs separately and you decide how to proceed. Once the repairs are done, the certificate is issued at no additional charge.
What the certificate covers
A COC covers the fixed electrical installation within its stated scope. It is not a warranty on appliances plugged into it. If the request follows an alteration, tell us what changed so the inspection covers the right part of the installation.
For your home
Getting your home ready for the inspection
For a house sale, tell us the transfer date and who your conveyancer or agent is. Having the right documents ready and the boards accessible keeps the inspection quick.
-
Documents
Your latest City of Johannesburg (COJ) account reflecting the registered address, plus any existing certificate and test report.
-
Access to the installation
Arrange access to the house, outbuildings and every distribution board. Tell the office if a tenant or managing agent holds the keys.
-
Findings and repairs
You will see photos of every fault on the job card before deciding on repairs. Repairs are quoted separately from the inspection.
